Dr. Sampino To Present at the 7th Annual Quality Colloquium

Plainville, CT – August 16, 2008 – Dr. Santo Sampino, Vice President of Provider Account Management for Triad, will make a poster presentation titled Patient Safety and Pain Management at the 7th Annual Quality Colloquium in Cambridge, Massachusetts August 18-21, 2008.

Successfully managing pain is a worldwide problem that has not been addressed. In America alone, chronic pain affects 20% of the population and costs more than $100 billion annually to treat. Yet this population of patients does not get better and often experiences redundant and unsafe care.

In this presentation, Dr. Sampino provides the rationale for a safe approach to pain care that places emphasis on the doctor patient relationship and the importance of the doctor influencing a pain patient’s expectations.

The Quality Colloquium is the leading forum on Patient Safety, Quality Enhancement and Medical Error Reduction. Convening on the campus of Harvard, attendees will study current levels of patient safety and quality of care and learn how to engage leaders in the health care arena to begin meaningful change towards improving these areas.
